2007 International Economic Development Council Honorable Mention
October 2007
- Economic Development and Tourism was recognized by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) with an Honorable Mention for the Alberta's Industrial Heartland project in the Multi-Year Economic Development Program.

2006 Economic Developers' of Alberta Alex Metcalfe Award
October 2006
- Strathcona County Economic Development and Tourism received the Alex Metcalfe Award for efforts in siting Costco to the community.

2006 Economic Developers' of Alberta "Best General Purpose Brochure"
October 2006
- The Economic Developers' Association of Alberta has awarded Visit the Country with the “Best General Purpose Brochure” award and was recognized at the Fall Economic Developers Association of Alberta conference in October. This regional brochure is going into it's third year of production.

2004 Minister's Award for Municipal
Excellence in the Partnership Category
September 2004
- Strathcona County and Sturgeon County partnered in
a Agricultural Tourism Product Development program. The initiative resulted
in the fruition of Sturgeon County's Country Soul Stroll, Strathcona
County's Fur and Feathers Farm Tour, Strathcona County's Harvest Festival
of Foods, Edmonton region's Country Christmas retreat packages, and
Visit the Country Guide and Website. The review committee felt this
practice demonstrated excellence and will be beneficial to the overall
practice of local government in Alberta.

2002 Alberta
Association Canadian Institute of Planners Award of Excellence
September 2002
- The Alberta Industrial Heartland team received
the 2001 - 2002 Award of Excellence from the Alberta Association Canadian
Institute of Planners. The team received the award for its use of eco-industrial
principles, its public consultation process and for inter-municipal
collaboration.


2002 Municipal
Affairs Minister's Outstanding Achievement Award for Municipal Excellence
September 2002
- The Government of Alberta announced the Alberta's
Industrial Heartland Association as the first recipient of the Municipal
Affairs Minister's Outstanding Achievement Award for Municipal Excellence.
In addition, the AIHA also received Honourable Mention in the Partnership
category for its first major undertaking, a comprehensive process that
resulted in the complementary Area Structure Plans for four communities.
The four partners involved are the City of Fort Saskatchewan, Sturgeon
County, Lamont County and Strathcona County.

2001 Marketing
Canada Awards
September 2001
- Strathcona County's business card-sized promotional computer disc won second place at the 2001 Marketing Canada Awards.
This award ceremony was held at the Economic Developers Association
of Canada in Moncton, New Brunswick. This disc was entered in the category
of Information Technology for organizations with budgets over $250,000
and competed against 17 other submissions from large centres across
Canada. In total, the awards program consisted of 13 categories and
285 submissions.

2001 International
Economic Development Council's Promotional Materials Award Competition
May 2001
- Strathcona County's website won Superior
Achievement at the 2001 International Economic Development Council's
(IEDC) Promotional Material Awards Competition. The county won second
place in the $250,000 to $500,000 budget category in the Web site Multi-media
category.
- Strathcona County's presentation folder won
Excellent Achievement at the 2001 International Economic Development
Council's (IEDC) Promotional Material Awards Competition. The county
won third place in the $250,000 to $500,000 budget category in the Special
Purpose Brochure category.
- Strathcona County's written proposal to an
Asian prospect won Honourable Mention at the 2001 International Economic
Development Council's (IEDC) Promotional Material Awards Competition.
The county won fourth place in the $250,000 to $500,000 budget category
in the Custom Written Proposal category.
