Highways

This network of transportation links ensures easy access to customers and suppliers.

  • Seven primary highways traverse the County: Highways 14, 15, 16, 21, 38, 216 and the Sherwood Park Freeway.
  • The Roadking Travel Centre Strathcona Inc. and Flying J Canada Inc are two full-service travel facilities for truckers and vactioners. Both are located on Broadmoor Boulevard just off of the Trans-Canada Yellowhead Highway.
  • 20,000 kilometres of paved roads and highways cross Alberta, 1,820 kilometres run through Strathcona County.

Fast, economical ground transportation

There are many major trucking companies located in the County. They provide general and specialized commodity transportation to domestic and United States destinations. An import imbalance for certain goods has created inexpensive back-haul rates on refrigerated vans and equipment flat-decks heading to the United States. Containers returning to the Pacific Rim are also favorably priced. The trucking industry can handle door-to-door service from Strathcona County to California in 72 hours or less. Two-day delivery is possible for customers in northern California, Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana.
