Edmonton and Strathcona County are in a boundary dispute that has halted approval of the county's revised Municipal Development Plan . The city has filed a seven-page letter of objection to the county, which prevented county council from approving the plan this week.

Oilsands

Oilsands Will Soon Account for Lion's Share of Petroleum Output

Alberta's oilsands projects are projected to account for 90 per cent of Canada's total crude oil output by 2030, replacing conventional sources that are already in decline, a National Energy Board Official said Tuesday.

EEDC 12th Annual Luncheon - March 21, 2007

World-renowned economist to address Edmonton's business community

Edmonton's largest annual business luncheon will feature a keynote address by Paul Krugman, one of the world's pre-eminent global economists and an insightful, often provocative columnist for The New York Times.

Named "America's most important political columnist" (Washington Weekly) and "America's most controversial economist" (Newsweek), Krugman has authored several books, including the recent best-seller The Great Unraveling: Losing Our Way in the New Century. He is a professor of economics at Princeton University and his work in economics has earned him acclaim from the economic press and several prestigious awards.

Krugman's keynote address will discuss economic and political trends and issues of global significance ... and offer insights as to how they may impact Canada and Alberta.

Western Canada Summer Games 2007

2007 Western Canada Summer Games

The 2007 Western Canada Summer Games will bring together over 2,300 athletes, coaches, officials, and performers from the four western provinces and three northern territories to celebrate the highest achievements in sport and culture for nine days in August of 2007.

Strathcona County has a long tradition of hosting successful, record-breaking local, provincial and national sporting events.  The 2007 western Canada Summer Games will be no exception.  These Games bring together the largest collection of Canada's future Olympic hopeful athletes outside of the Canada Games.  The opportunity to be a part of this celebration of sport and culture should not be missed.
