Shell Canada Updates Oil Sands Mining and Upgrading Plans
"Shell Canada today updated its long term oil sands growth plans to increase mineable bitumen production to approximately 770,000 barrels a day while increasing upgrading capacity to approximately 700,000 barrel a day." "Actual timing for Shell Canada projects will depend on market conditions, key economic indicators, the ability to meet our sustainable development criteria and the outcome of the regulatory process."

Business Link Seminars and Brown Bag Sessions
Starting February until mid-May, The Business Link Business Service Centre is offering seminars and noon-hour sessions for entrepreneurs. Seminars will cover topics on Business Start-Up, Taxation & Money Matters, Exporting, E-Business, and Marketing & Sales. Free Brown Bag sessions, from general business to legal matters, are scheduled twice a week. The Guest Advisor Program program will give you an opportunity to speak with management consultants, lawyers, accountants, financial representatives and e-business experts who volunteer their time to discuss concerns. Municipal Development Plan Review
Plan on attending one of the public hearings for the Municipal Development Review. Public meetings give individuals an opportunity to speak to Council on the proposed plan. The hearing dates are February 6 & 7. Visit www.strathcona.ab.ca for more information.

Western Canada Summer Games Volunteers
If you're interested in, meeting new friends, having fun and giving back to the community, then volunteering for the 2007 Western Canada Summer Games is a way that you can accomplish all three! For nine days in August 2007, over 2,300 athletes, coaches, officials, and performers from across Western Canada will descend on Strathcona County, and 3,000 volunteers will be needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the Games.
Volunteers are needed for various roles: Sport specific volunteers for the 17 sports that are part of the Games;
- Office/clerical positions pre and post games;
- Set-up and take down for the opening and closing ceremonies;
- Sales positions – for all the great Games Gear that is on sale now and during the Games;
- Post-Games positions, helping to get the venues back to their original conditions.
