Strathcona has an abundant supply of physical recreations for you to choose from.

Strathcona County Kinsmen Leisure Centre

Strathcona County Kinsmen Leisure Centre has been serving our community for over 30 years! Our facility has recently been renovated making it "Better for you!" This indoor facility is located in the heart of Sherwood Park adjacent to Broadmoor Lake Park. It features a waterslide, whirlpool and steam room, 25 metre salt-water pool, dive pool with boards and a tarzan rope. Children love the Esso Swim Safe Centre where a shallow warm water pool invites them to play in the waterfalls and fountains. Discover how to beat the heat at the outdoor water park. We also offer a wide range of Red Cross Learn to Swim and Lifesaving Society programs.

Glen Allan Recreation Complex

This complex features a variety of fitness equipment including strengthening, cardiovascular, and free weights. If you are looking for a challenge, try the squash, racquetball, handball or wallyball courts.

There is also arena ice with public skating and shinny hockey, 8 sheets of curling ice and a lounge, surrounded by a 45 acre park and a fitness trail. And when you are worn out take a soak in the whirlpool or relax in the sauna. The Glen Allan Recreation Complex is open from 5:30 a.m. to 11 p.m daily.

Millennium Place

The Powerade Centre Twin Arena
Used for minor sport organizations, shinny hockey, tournaments and public skating. The rink attached to the leisure ice is open to the public for recreational skating opportunities throughout the week.

The Shell Edu-tainment Centre
An exciting new indoor play environment for children. The centre features a full-size playground complete with spiral slides, tunnels and more. The centre also includes a 10' climbing wall for kids, a variety of riding toys, and "kid friendly" furniture and washrooms.The centre is attractively decorated with murals depicting the natural flora and fauna of the area. The Shell Edu-tainment Centre is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

The Gymnasium
Available for a variety of drop-in gym sports including volleyball, basketball, badminton, floor hockey and more. Sports equipment is also available.

Petro-Canada Wellness Centre
Everyone ranging from teens to seniors will be interested in this premier fitness facility. The centre features state-of-the-art fitness equipment complete with a full line of cardiovascular machines, free weights and specialized equipment. The centre also includes an aerobics room and a combative room and provides a variety of fitness testing and consultations. The Petro-Canada Wellness Centre is open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.

The Indoor track
The only indoor fitness track in Strathcona County! This 3-lane track is 235 meters long and features a unique incline and banked corners. The track is fully wheelchair accessible and is open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily for public use.

The Special Events Centre/Field House
Features two indoor playing fields for soccer groups or other sports. The centre can also host community events such as trade shows with up to 32, 000 square feet of open space. This facility is the first of its kind in Strathcona County.

Skateboard park
Strathcona County's new skateboard park is approximately 1,300 square metres in size. This outdoor park features 20 different activities, concrete design, permanent ramps, jumps and rails. This facility is open daily until 11 p.m. Located next to Millennium Place this park is close to washrooms, first-aid, and food services.

Strathcona Wilderness Centre

The Strathcona Wilderness Centre offers over 12 km of trails for hiking, cross country skiing and snowshoeing. Other opportunities include canoeing or kayaking along the shores of the beautiful Bennett Lake.

Public Skating offered at Rural Facilities

Public skating opportunities are available at the Strathcona Olympiette Centre, Moyer Recreation Centre, and Ardrossan Recreation Complex. Visit the Strathcona County public website for a schedule of skating times.
