Hockey
Play a game with friends on one of our many outdoor rinks or watch the
excitement from the bleachers.
Sherwood Park Crusaders
Visitors enjoy watching an Alberta Junior Hockey
team, the Sherwood Park Crusaders as they take to the ice, while residents cheer
on their home team at the Arena/Sports Centre! You will also find young, aspiring
hockey players in the stands. They watch their favorite team with a close eye,
all the while dreaming of one day becoming a Crusader.

Skating- indoors and out
There is always a way when you want it bad enough, even in the summer.
Indoor public skating is offered at many of our recreation facilities where
you can rent skates if you don't have a pair. If you are here when the north
winds blow come and play on one of our outdoor rinks. But don't forget your
mittens!

Millennium Place - Leisure ice
A winter wonderland
where participants can enjoy a unique outdoor skating experience in an indoor
setting...year-round. Recreational skaters appreciate the skate rental service
and the ATCO Gas fireplace. The leisure ice surface is attached to the main
ice rink in the Powerade Center creating the largest indoor skating environment
in the region. The leisure ice also features special effects, a DVD player and
a snowmaking machine and is open daily for recreational skating from 9 a.m.
to 9 p.m.

Cooking Lake-Blackfoot
The Cooking Lake-Blackfoot Provincial Recreation Wildlife
and Grazing Area is home to the Canadian
Birkebeiner Ski Festival. The largest classic cross-country ski event in North America, the Canadian Birkebeiner
Ski Festival attracts 3,000 people from around the globe.
Strathcona Wilderness Centre
Other popular cross-country and snowshoeing trails are found at Strathcona Wilderness
Centre and Elk Island National Park. The Strathcona
Wilderness Centre offers cross-country ski rentals
on site.
Sunridge Ski Area
Enjoy downhill skiing at Sunridge
Ski Area. This ski area offers a modern chalet,
cafeteria, and ski and snowboard lessons and rentals.

Snowmobiling
Another
great way to experience our winter wonderland and abundant
wildlife. There are many trails to choose from.

The only sport where you don't get in trouble for throwing

Swimming
Go swimming at one of our local fitness and recreation
centers.
Strathcona County Kinsmen Leisure Centre
The Leisure Centre has recently been renovated making it "Better for you!" This indoor facility is located in the heart of Sherwood Park adjacent to Broadmoor Lake Park. It features a waterslide, whirlpool and steam room, 25 metre salt-water pool, dive
pool with boards and a tarzan rope. Children love the Esso Swim Safe Centre
where a shallow warm water pool invites them to play in the waterfalls and fountains. Discover how to beat the heat at the outdoor water park.
